just spent the last day appreciating how good the sound quality of the music player is as mp3 device. downloaded equalizer app to flatten the preset bass and treble boast. being an audiophile, the sound is great, so much so that i rushed out to buy a pair of Westone 4 to take full advantage. all i can say is WOW,WOW,WOW in capitals. its really that good soundwise

You should try listening to Wav lossless or flac on the Xoom, it's truly stunning sounding!

Curious, what do people find to be "the best" music player for Android? I've tried a few, but really haven't found one that's best. And I'm talking about Android in general as I have both the XOOM and a Droid X I'd like to use, to sync music to, create playlists, etc. I just haven't found one that I really love for all uses.

"Best" is a matter of taste. PowerAmp is very popular, as is DoubleTwist. I like Zimly because it does both audio and video well.

Thank you Khassy. Yep, "best" is indeed a matter of taste ("What's the best flavor of ice cream?") I use doubleTwist, but haven't tried the others, but I'll use your suggestion and see how they work for me. Thanks again.

There's also Mixzing, which is my second fav. For me, not being a huge audiophile snob, they're all much the same.

LOL! Yep, well, I "used" to be a "music snob," back when I tweaked my turntable for balance and tracking, bought hi-end amps that were hand-built, etc. Then, I got into CDs, and frankly there's no comparison; vinyl is "real," but it's a pain, and now we have mp3. Easier, oh yeah! But better? Not with regard to sound quality, but ... I don't care, it sounds good enough.

Now I'm more interested in "easy," and I want a player that lets me create and easily manage song "Ratings," Playlists, and the ability to sync my portable (in my case, a Droid X and XOOM), and be able to FIND the songs I want to hear (not easy when you have 10's of thousands of songs.) So I guess now I'm just "fussy" about how the UI for a player is architected, how "usable" it is. I'm no longer interested in spending $45 on a "DiscWasher" to clean my LPs, I just wanna push "Play!" Guess I've gotten lazy in my old age... <grin>

I dunno how well it works but there is a WinAmp app that might work best for syncing multiple devices.

I used to use Double Twist, but recently I have been using the Google music Beta App, I like the cloud offering and the ability to pin songs and playlists to the device so I have them when I get on an Airplane.

I don't like the "terms and conditions" of Google's music service. Sorry, when I buy something, *I* own it and can decide what to do with it, not them, regardless of where I bought it.

Do you get any Force Closures from the Equalizer app when you reboot your Xoom? I love that app.
